One year ago today, marks the arrival of my debut novel, 'Rainbow Baby: Unravelled by Loss'. When the publisher announced the day my book would be available in stores and on Amazon, it landed on a very special day in our family. March 15 is my grandmother's birthday. Mary Klippenstein would be 110 today. She loved gardening and music. My favourite memory is her beautiful soprano descant to 'Silent Night'.
Many of you have read this book now and shared your comments. Some of you have given it as gifts to friends. Thank you so much for all your encouraging words. It's my hope that the book becomes a source of hope and encouragement to those who share in the silent grief of pregnancy loss.
When I consider the rainbow as a symbol of hope, I remember it first appeared when Noah and his family stepped out of the ark onto dry ground. The landscape had changed. Nothing was the same. Noah and his family experienced a catastrophic loss yet God reminded them of His faithfulness to them and all living creatures with a gorgeous symbol of the rainbow that dances in the storm.
"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”(Genesis 9:13-16NIV)
'Rainbow Baby: Unravelled by Loss' is the first book in a series called 'Legacy Reimaged'. My next book is about Lesley and Noah, friends of Phil and Samantha. Lesley wonders if she'll ever conceive. Noah doubts his ability to be a father. Stay tuned!
