Hallowed Be Your Name

What value reveals itself as you consider His name? To hallow something means to 'honour as holy' or 'set it apart or consecrate it'. Is the name of the Lord something to treasure?'The Lord is my Shepherd', 'Messiah', 'Adonai', 'Abba' ,'Father', 'The Holy One of Israel', 'Creator', 'Jesus', 'Redeemer', 'Saviour', 'the One who sees', 'Wonderful Counselor', 'the Prince of Peace', or the 'Almighty God'.

When I think about King David, the name of God I imagine he hallowed would be 'Shepherd'. Countless times, David experienced the rescue by his Shepherd. A ferocious animal or towering giant. A madman on the hunt or the poisonous arrow of family betrayal. Whenever David acknowledged the wisdom of his Good Shepherd and yielded to his care, his situation settled.

As we get to know our God, we discover new names of God that we hallow in different seasons of our lives. I am in awe of the Creator. Everytime I discover a new revelation in the scientific world, I get to marvel at the intelligent design behind it.

Maybe, you're in a hard season like Hagar. You wonder if you're invisible and then you encounter God at a well. Then you hallow the 'God who sees'.

Or you're like Rahab and you're trapped in a lifestyle and a place that's falling down around you and you discover the name of Jesus, 'the One who saves'. You hallow the name of Jesus because He's saved you out of the mess you were in.

Here are two documents that expand on the names of God. I invite you to click on them and ask the Lord how you can hallow the name of the Lord in the season you're in right now.

This pdf is short.

This pdf is longer but contains the references and the hebraic spelling.
